Mary Skelter Nightmares is a pretty interesting gothic dungeon crawler. The story wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I found the characters to be quite enjoyable. Out of all the dungeon crawlers that I've played, I've found this one to be pretty easy so if you're new to dungeon crawlers I suggest picking this game up. There are some annoying bugs though. Sometimes when youre in a dungeon the icon "next area" will not appear which means you'll be wandering around aimlessly trying to find it so that you can proceed. Chests sometimes remain closed even after opening them. The bosses are all very memorable and the gameplay is simple yet fun. I've got some Shin Megami Tensei vibes from playing this so maybe if you like that series you'll like this too! The map system needs some work though...mainly more detailed icons aswell as more detailed mechanics. Overall a pretty good game by IF.. The game is pretty repetitive with some novel features. I kinda expected it to throw lots of cool puzzles at me while having to hide from the spoopy monster but it kinda petered off from mid game to the end. Some chapters had no puzzles and I think the map was sometimes so big that the monster couldn't find me?Combat was satisfying until I reached chapter 4 (normal mode). I tried switching it to hard but I felt like I only needed to grind to progress on hard and with having such a large area to explore, I didn't want to have to risk dying.I enjoyed my experience overall despite the game losing momentum towards the end and they're even releasing a second game on the ps4. Hope it improves on the features this little gem already has.. got this game last week. 37 hours and im depressed already.. I like Thumbelina, she's small and cute.. The story is edgy but no bad written, I quite liked it.Combat is so-so, you can, in most cases, smash your way with not much planing, and when you are pretty into the game you might be thankful for it since the monster are kinda annoying with their freq of spawn.As a dungeon crawler is pretty solid with many QoL features.At some point it became a chore to finish it more than just me playing for fun, might be my lack of interest in exploring various levels which are just there for you to explore (and also because I was playing it for the story)
